This year, Air Quality Awareness Week (AQAW) takes place from May 5th through the 9th. It is a time for government agencies and public health advocates to share information about efforts to protect and improve air quality. The annual event has been recognized in the United States since 2007 and the theme for 2025 is Stay Air Aware.
The event is supported by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and partners. These include the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. National Park Service, U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, as well as state, local, and tribal agencies.
Specific topics for AQAW 2025 include:
- Monday – Wildland Fires and Smoke
- Tuesday – Asthma and Your Health
- Wednesday – Indoor Air Quality
- Thursday – Air, Animals, and Plants
- Friday – Air Quality Resources
