EMSL Mississauga Laboratory was recently engaged by a company to test their product for antimicrobial efficacy of ultraviolet germicidal irradiation against microorganisms. This would be tested on carriers with simulated soil using MRSA with one minute of exposure time at room temperature. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a group of Gram-positive bacteria that are genetically distinct from other strains of Staphylococcus aureus. MRSA is responsible for several difficult-to-treat infections in humans. With these tests EMSL was able to determine the efficacy for the client.
